Position Overview
The role of the Medicaid Specialist is crucial in facilitating the financial benefits coordination for residents within our Caring Communities. This position is designed for an individual with a background in Business Office or Admissions within Long Term Care settings.

Key Responsibilities
1. Assist facilities in collecting financial information from residents, families, and responsible parties.
2. Review necessary verifications to confirm eligibility for benefits.
3. Prepare and submit applications to state Medicaid programs.
4. Act as the authorized representative when applying for benefits, as needed.
5. Maintain accurate documentation to support all applications submitted.
6. Timely escalate complex cases to management.
7. File appeals with relevant agencies when required.
8. Foster relationships with local agencies responsible for Level of Care and Medicaid Eligibility determinations.
9. Participate in all Medicaid Pending Meetings for assigned facilities.

Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of laws, regulations, and guidelines related to long-term care reimbursement.
- 3-5 years of experience in Long Term Care Business Office or Social Services, preferably in a healthcare environment.
- Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, Private Insurance, and managed care programs.
- Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with team members, residents, families, and external agencies.
- Openness to adopting new methods and principles into existing practices.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with relevant software applications.
