Position Overview

The Department of Surgery is in search of a skilled and enthusiastic Surgical Education Program Coordinator to enhance our vibrant educational initiatives. This role is crucial in managing continuing medical education (CME) activities and surgical fellowship programs. The coordinator will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and external partners to ensure the effective delivery of high-caliber educational experiences and to support the professional growth of surgical fellows.

Key Responsibilities

CME Program Management
  • Design and execute CME programs adhering to accreditation standards and guidelines.
  • Oversee the scheduling, logistics, and promotion of CME events, including conferences, workshops, and seminars.
  • Manage registration processes, participant feedback, and documentation for CME activities.
  • Collaborate with faculty and external experts to identify educational needs pertinent to the surgical field.
Surgical Fellowship Coordination
  • Assist in the administration and coordination of surgical fellowship programs.
  • Act as a secondary contact for prospective and current surgical fellows, providing support throughout the application and onboarding processes.
  • Coordinate educational activities, rotations, and evaluations for surgical fellows in partnership with program directors and faculty mentors.
  • Ensure adherence to accreditation standards and institutional policies for surgical fellowship programs.
Educational Resource Development
  • Create and maintain educational resources, including online platforms and training materials for surgical education.
  • Support faculty and staff in educational initiatives, including curriculum development and implementation of best practices.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous learning and professional development among faculty, residents, and fellows.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Assist in managing budgets, contracts, and administrative tasks related to educational programs.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports to track CME credits and fellowship activities.
  • Collaborate with departmental leadership to ensure effective communication and coordination of educational initiatives.
Qualifications

Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in education, healthcare administration, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in education coordination, preferably in a healthcare or academic environment.
  • Strong understanding of accreditation standards for CME and surgical fellowship programs.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in project management and educational technology platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic setting.
  • Commitment to excellence in surgical education and professional development.
Preferred Education & Experience
  • Master's degree is preferred.
