Position Overview

The Supervisor of Patient Services plays a crucial role in overseeing the dietary aides within our facilities. This position involves delegating responsibilities, providing training and coaching, and ensuring adherence to grooming and uniform standards. The supervisor also contributes to the enhancement of patient menu and service quality.

Key Responsibilities

1. Manage biweekly scheduling, including vacation planning and holiday distribution, to ensure adequate staffing levels.

2. Maintain daily assignment schedules, reallocating staff as needed based on their skills and ensuring equitable workload distribution. Facilitate cross-training to promote job satisfaction and professional growth.

3. Uphold sanitation and safety standards within the department.

4. Report any mechanical issues to the Operations Manager and initiate work orders as necessary.

5. Collaborate with the sous chef to ensure food presentation, portioning, taste, dietary compliance, and consistency meet established standards.

6. Monitor the temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, and dishwashing machines to guarantee food safety in partnership with the Sous Chef.

7. Conduct daily communication meetings to keep staff informed about departmental activities.

8. Review patient trays for accuracy in relation to dietary requirements and menu orders to enhance patient satisfaction.

9. Ensure timely commencement of tray line operations and completion of all orders.

10. Ensure that all staff adhere to established presentation procedures.

11. Comply with the Medical Center's Organizational & Managerial Competencies.

Qualifications

Required:

1. Associate's degree in food management or equivalent; or a High School diploma with a GED and 10 years of supervisory experience in a hospital or similar food service setting; or an A.A.S. degree with 5 years of supervisory experience in a relevant environment.

Preferred:

1. Associate's degree in food management.

2. Bachelor's degree in food management or a related field is strongly preferred.

3. Proficiency in computer skills.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

1. Food Safety and Sanitation Certification or ServSafe Certification or Certified Food Safety Manager.
