Role Summary:
As a Lead Respiratory Care Supervisor, you will oversee, organize, and coordinate the clinical and technical operations of all Respiratory services during your shift, ensuring the delivery of high-quality therapeutic services.

You will also ensure compliance with all policies and procedures established by the Medical Center and the Department Policy and Procedure Manuals.

Key Responsibilities:

A typical day as a Lead Respiratory Care Supervisor includes:

  • Providing clinical and technical guidance to staff members on each shift.
  • Conducting regular performance reviews through daily audits and rounding to ensure adherence to departmental policies.
  • Offering counsel to staff, documenting disciplinary actions or coaching opportunities as necessary.
  • Coordinating annual competencies with the department Educator to ensure timely completion.
  • Performing therapeutic procedures as required for all patient age groups, from infants to geriatrics.
  • Ensuring that all unused equipment is returned to the department and properly cleaned and processed.
  • Coordinating staff activities to guarantee prompt delivery of quality patient care.
  • Completing annual employee evaluations in accordance with the performance management process.
  • Facilitating mid-year coaching sessions for employees.
  • Managing the nitrous oxide, oxygen, and nitrogen manifolds, including the ability to lift and handle various cylinder sizes.
  • Monitoring manifold systems throughout the facility and ensuring they are checked every 8 hours.
  • Distributing patient care responsibilities based on patient acuity to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Engaging in Service Recovery initiatives to enhance patient satisfaction.
  • Participating in a rotational supervisory on-call system to maintain adequate staffing and departmental functionality.
  • Reviewing end-of-shift reports to ensure quality patient documentation and minimize incidental overtime.
  • Assisting the Manager of Respiratory Care in maintaining clinical compliance with national and local standards.
  • Adhering to the standards outlined in the Medical Center's Organizational and Managerial Competencies.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Associate's degree in Applied Sciences.
  • Graduation from an AMA accredited Respiratory Care program.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a staff therapist.
  • 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited institution.

Licenses and Certifications Required:
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner License.
  • NJ Registered Respiratory Therapist Certificate.
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.

Contacts:
Interactions with employees and staff at all levels, patients, physicians, and patient family members.

Working Conditions:
Requires the ability to lift small cylinders weighing approximately 20 lbs., and unfasten regulators. Additionally, the ability to roll T size cylinders weighing approximately 165 lbs. over a distance of 15 ft. and manage regulator fittings is necessary.
