The Lead Patient Services Supervisor is tasked with overseeing all dietary aides within the Pavilion and Women and Children's kitchens. This role involves delegating responsibilities, providing training and coaching, and ensuring adherence to uniform and grooming standards. Additionally, the supervisor plays a crucial role in implementing enhancements to patient menu and service quality.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage biweekly scheduling, including vacation planning and holiday distribution, ensuring adequate coverage at all times.
2. Maintain daily assignment schedules, reallocating staff as needed based on their capabilities. Facilitate training and ensure equitable work distribution, promoting job satisfaction and professional growth.
3. Uphold sanitation and safety standards consistently.
4. Report any mechanical issues to the Operations Manager and initiate work orders as necessary.
5. Collaborate with the sous chef to ensure food presentation, portioning, taste, dietary compliance, and consistency meet established standards.
6. Monitor the temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, and dishwashing machines to guarantee food and patient safety, in conjunction with the Sous Chef.
7. Conduct daily communication meetings to keep staff informed about departmental activities.
8. Review patient trays for accuracy regarding diet and menu orders to enhance patient satisfaction.
9. Ensure timely commencement of tray line operations and completion of all tickets.
10. Confirm that all personnel adhere to established presentation procedures.
11. Comply with the Medical Center's Organizational & Managerial Competencies.
Qualifications
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Associate's degree in food management or equivalent; or a High School diploma, GED, and 10 years of supervisory experience in a hospital or similar food service setting; or an A.A.S. degree with 5 years of supervisory experience in a comparable environment.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Associate's degree in food management is preferred.
2. A Bachelor's degree in food management or a related field is strongly preferred.
3. Proficiency in computer skills is advantageous.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
1. Food Safety and Sanitation Certification or ServSafe Certification or Certified Food Safety Manager.
