Role Overview: As the Engineering Manager for Underground Transmission Lines, you will lead a diverse team of engineers and technicians, managing complex projects within our extensive portfolio of design services and EPC programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage project budgets, schedules, and quality standards across various engineering disciplines.
  • Facilitate direct communication with clients regarding project changes in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Review engineering assignments and coordinate activities across multiple disciplines, potentially serving as the engineer of record for specific projects.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with project leaders, design teams, and support personnel.
  • Articulate client needs and objectives to project teams, ensuring these are addressed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to business development efforts and support proposal activities.
  • Travel may be required for site visits, design evaluations, and client engagements.
  • Adhere to the quality standards set forth by Black and Veatch, applying your expertise consistently and independently.
  • Ensure compliance with client and industry standards throughout project execution.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, fostering their professional growth.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in managing EPC or design services for underground transmission line projects for investor-owned utilities in the U.S.
  • Strong background in high voltage underground transmission line design, with a comprehensive understanding of the project lifecycle and equipment specifications.
  • Familiarity with software tools such as CYMCAP and Pole Planner.
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on client engagement and relationship building.
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering design principles and relevant standards.
  • Experience in interdisciplinary project coordination, including procurement, subcontract management, permitting, and construction support.
  • Understanding of the proposal process and the ability to develop engineering estimates.
  • P.E. License is highly desirable.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience.
