Position Summary

The People Business Partner (PBP) role is integral to the People Solutions team within the Office of the Presiding Bishop. This position collaborates with designated areas to provide strategic human resources support that aligns with the organization's goals. The PBP offers expert advice on various people-related matters, including recruitment, retention, recognition, performance enhancement, employee relations, training, and compensation. A thorough understanding of the assigned area's staffing strategies, financial health, and organizational culture is essential.

This is a full-time, regular, hybrid position based in Chicago. Regular presence in the office is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Engage in regular consultations with leadership in assigned areas, providing HR insights as necessary.
  2. Analyze trends and metrics in collaboration with the People and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team to create effective solutions and policies.
  3. Manage and resolve complex employee relations matters, conducting thorough and impartial investigations.
  4. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of legal requirements affecting employee management, minimizing legal risks and ensuring compliance.
  5. Offer daily performance management guidance, including coaching, counseling, and identifying training needs.
  6. Work closely with employees to enhance workplace relationships, boost morale, and improve retention.
  7. Develop contractual terms for new hires, promotions, and transfers.
  8. Provide insights on organizational restructuring, workforce planning, and succession strategies.
  9. Identify training needs for teams and individual coaching requirements.
  10. Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but serves as a mentor and coach for other organizational positions.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five years of professional human resources experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Proficient knowledge of various HR disciplines, including staffing, compensation, organizational analysis, diversity, and employment laws.
  3. SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential is preferred.
  4. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal and customer service abilities.
  5. Ability to interpret and apply relevant laws, guidelines, and policies.
  6. Strong understanding of the organization's structure, roles, and compensation practices.
  7. Excellent time management and organizational skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  8. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  9. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and online communication tools.
