Axient LLC's Systems Engineering Group (SEG) is on the lookout for motivated individuals eager to contribute to national defense initiatives. We are currently in search of a Senior Systems Engineer who possesses expertise in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to assist our Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and Navy clientele.

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Systems Engineer will provide on-site MBSE assistance to our SEG clients, which includes but is not limited to:

  • Collaborating with existing MBSE developers to integrate current Government Furnished Information (GFI) into a Cameo model, serving as a reference for higher-level MBSE model verification.
  • Creating tools for the seamless import of reference items from Excel exports.
  • Designing data views to facilitate easy access to reference data and metrics.
  • Transforming Program Configuration Data Management (CDM) into Cameo.
  • Developing tools for generating change logs containing essential information.
  • Managing and developing MBSE models.
  • Creating SysML diagrams including Use Cases, Block Definition Diagrams, and Internal Block Diagrams.
  • Producing DoDAF diagrams, primarily focusing on Operational and System Viewpoints.
  • Establishing boundaries and context for system architectures.
  • Updating and maintaining system designs within MBSE tools.
  • Leading the advancement of MBSE practices at SEG by establishing best practices and fostering a culture of capability.
  • Designing, constructing, and sustaining robust MBSE systems and strategies at SEG.
  • Mentoring and guiding junior engineers in MBSE methodologies.

Required Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • A proven track record of significant involvement in the development and implementation of MBSE models in prior positions.
  • Between 4 to 10 years of professional experience in MBSE.
  • A self-motivated attitude with the ability to independently manage tasks, defining the direction based on technical insights and customer requirements.
  • Familiarity with MBSE tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody, or MagicDraw.
  • Knowledge of DoDAF and its various viewpoints.
  • Experience with different modeling methodologies including SysML, UML, SYSMOD, and Harmony-SE.
  • Proficiency in documentation and presentations using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
  • The ability to obtain a US Department of Defense SECRET Security Clearance.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional desirable qualifications include:

  • An active US DoD SECRET or TOP SECRET Security Clearance.
  • A Master's degree or higher.
  • Experience with Cameo, as it is the primary tool utilized by our clients.
  • Familiarity with military standards/instructions, interface development, system architectures, functional flow diagrams, and engagement sequencing.
  • Experience in System Architecture Development.
  • Background in Navy combat systems or complex Systems of Systems (SoS).
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or similar programming languages for data processing and analysis.
  • Experience working in a Linux environment.
  • A passion for mentoring and developing junior MBSE engineers.
