Position Overview: The Level 3 Systems Engineer engages in the application of Systems Engineering Principles throughout the various phases of the systems life cycle, including Concept, Development, Production, Utilization, Support, and Retirement.

Key Responsibilities: This role involves interaction with government entities concerning technical aspects of Systems Engineering, addressing associated challenges, issues, or conflicts. Effective communication with program personnel, government representatives, and senior management is essential.

Technical Integrity: The engineer will be responsible for ensuring the technical integrity, quality, and completeness of work performed and deliverables related to one or more of the 25 process areas defined by ISO/IEC 15288:

  • Technical Process Areas: Stakeholder Requirements Definition, Requirements Analysis, Architectural Design, Implementation, Integration, Verification, Transition, Validation, Operation, Maintenance, and Disposal.
  • Project Process Areas: Project Planning, Project Assessment and Control, Decision Management, Risk Management, Configuration Management, Information Management, and Measurement.
  • Enterprise Process Areas: Project Portfolio Management, Infrastructure Management, Lifecycle Model Management, Human Resources Management, and Quality Management.
  • Agreement Process Areas: Acquisition and Supply.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related discipline from an accredited institution, accompanied by six (6) years of general systems engineering experience. Alternatively, candidates with a High School Diploma or GED and ten (10) years of general systems engineering experience are also eligible.

Further qualifications include a Master's degree in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related discipline with four (4) years of systems engineering experience, or a PhD in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related discipline with two (2) years of systems engineering experience.

Note: Qualified engineering fields include Aeronautics, Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Environmental, Mechanical, Nuclear, Software, Systems, and Engineering Management. Related disciplines may include Chemistry, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, and Physics.
