Key Responsibilities as a Hospice Aide/CNA:

  • Report to the Administrator, Executive Director, or Patient Care Manager and work under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or Clinical Supervisor.
  • Assist patients in maintaining personal hygiene.
  • Help create a safe and healthy living environment.
  • Prepare and serve light meals as needed.
  • Support patients with feeding when necessary.
  • Assist patients with mobility and ambulation.
  • Guide the safe use of mobility aids as instructed by nursing staff.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties such as changing linens and emptying trash.
  • Assist with specific treatments as outlined in the care plan and compliant with state regulations.
  • Encourage patient engagement in activities to promote mental alertness.
  • Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.
  • Communicate any changes in the patient's condition to the nursing staff and interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate basic care techniques to primary caregivers.
  • Implement infection control measures and standard precautions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of visits and care provided.
  • Participate in staff meetings and quality improvement initiatives.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications for Hospice Aide/CNA:

  • A compassionate heart with empathy for patients and their families.
  • Ability to provide care in various settings as required.
  • Flexibility and composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
  • At least six months of experience in patient care, preferably in hospice, home health, or similar environments.
  • Additional experience in areas such as ICU, geriatrics, or emergency care is beneficial.
  • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance.
  • Current CPR certification.
