- Report to the Administrator, Executive Director, or Patient Care Manager and operate under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or Clinical Supervisor.
- Assist patients in maintaining personal hygiene.
- Help create a safe and healthy living environment.
- Prepare and serve light meals.
- Support patients with feeding as necessary.
- Assist patients with mobility.
- Facilitate the safe use of mobility aids as instructed by nursing staff.
- Perform light housekeeping duties such as trash disposal and linen changes.
- Assist with specific treatments as outlined in the aide care plan and permitted by state regulations.
- Encourage patient engagement in activities of interest to promote mental alertness.
- Provide basic emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.
- Communicate any changes in the patient's condition to the Registered Nurse and interdisciplinary team members.
- Demonstrate basic care techniques to primary caregivers.
- Implement infection control practices and standard precautions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of visit itineraries.
- Participate in staff meetings.
- Engage in at least one Quality Improvement activity annually, as assigned by the supervisor.
- Complete documentation promptly as per orientation guidelines.
Qualifications for Hospice Aide/ CNA:
- A compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
- Comfortable providing assistance in various home settings.
- Ability to remain calm and flexible during challenging situations.
- Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
- Preferred: Six months of patient care experience in hospice, home health, ICU, geriatrics, or oncology.
- Additional preferred experience includes roles such as hospital Staff RN, Med Surg, PACU, Float Pool, ER, critical care, and nursing home settings.
- Current driver's license and automobile insurance.
- Current CPR certification.
