Position Overview

As a Refugee Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in delivering comprehensive case management and supportive services to newly arrived refugees and other eligible populations. This position is vital in fostering self-sufficiency and facilitating the integration of newcomers into the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide culturally sensitive and trauma-informed support to clients.
  • Assist with reception services for incoming refugees, including airport pickups.
  • Screen and enroll eligible individuals and families into our programs.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop personalized service plans aimed at addressing their needs and overcoming barriers to self-sufficiency.
  • Regularly review and update service plans throughout the duration of the program.
  • Support clients in accessing essential services such as housing, education, healthcare, and employment.
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients to ensure their needs are met.
  • Deliver gender-equitable services and monitor service provision to avoid duplication with other programs.
  • Provide interpretation and translation services as needed, along with transportation to appointments.
  • Conduct outreach and engage in public speaking to connect those in need with available services.
  • Facilitate connections between clients and community resources to promote long-term integration.
  • Document all client interactions and maintain accurate records in the case management system.
  • Prepare and submit programmatic reports as required.
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings and collaborate with community partners to enhance service delivery.
  • Foster relationships with service providers and local employers to expand support networks for clients.
  • Engage in performance-related goal setting to achieve both personal and organizational objectives.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field, or equivalent experience in case management or social services.
  • Experience working with refugees, immigrants, or individuals with limited English proficiency is highly preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation for local travel.
