The Community Engagement Specialist plays a crucial role in nurturing Global Refuge's volunteer and Ambassador networks while orchestrating public programs such as Hope for the Holidays and Fresh Change. Reporting to the Director for Mobilization and Faith Relations, this position is pivotal in fostering public engagement in the mission of Welcome on behalf of Global Refuge and the Mobilization and Faith Relations team.

This role involves managing the recruitment, training, and communication necessary for engaging volunteers and Ambassadors, collaborating with field office volunteer coordinators and affiliates to ensure local volunteers are aligned with community needs.

The Community Engagement Specialist will empower the public to actively participate in the work of welcome through meaningful actions, a core aspect of Mobilization and Faith Relations' mission. Additionally, this position may entail planning and administering events aimed at education, recruitment, and celebration. Strong organizational skills, experience in collaborative environments, and effective time management across diverse tasks are essential. Occasional travel for staff events and representation of Global Refuge within various networks may be required.

This position offers remote work flexibility with occasional travel as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Global Refuge Volunteer and Ambassador Network, ensuring effective recruitment, training, and ongoing communication to foster deeper engagement.
  • Manage flagship programs and engagement opportunities, including Hope for the Holidays and Fresh Change.
  • Collaborate with the Impact and Innovation Officer to explore and implement new programs and initiatives.
  • Conduct training sessions for volunteers, Ambassadors, and internal staff, serving as a liaison for new hire orientation.
  • Revitalize the Global Refuge Ambassador program by engaging with key stakeholders and establishing new operational procedures.
  • Plan and execute virtual and in-person events for volunteer engagement and recruitment.
  • Utilize Salesforce to log and track communications with constituents, monitoring progress toward strategic goals.
  • Provide filtered lists of volunteer sign-ups to relevant Global Refuge offices or local affiliates monthly.
  • Work closely with the Director for Mobilization and Faith Relations to implement the national engagement strategy.
  • Develop a new pipeline approach for engaging volunteers and Ambassadors, equipping them to undertake actionable initiatives.
  • Regularly collaborate with other departments and local affiliates to identify needs and translate them into actionable plans.
  • Respond to constituent inquiries and support outreach efforts.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% as needed.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • High proficiency in Salesforce or similar CRM systems.
  • Strong cultural awareness and the ability to build relationships across diverse communities.
  • Excellent listening skills and the ability to synthesize community feedback into actionable plans.
