As a pivotal member of our development team, the Senior Philanthropic Advisor will report directly to the Director of Development and collaborate closely with the Chief Development and Mobilization Officer, along with the Prospect Research Team. Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Leadership Gifts Team to upgrade existing donors to major donor status within your designated territory.
  • Engage actively with donors in your portfolio through the moves management process, encompassing discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Solicit major and transformational gifts, including multi-year commitments and significant contributions.
  • Lead and oversee the Prospect Research Team, guiding Philanthropic Advisors in their monthly Moves Management strategies and tracking progress toward goals.
  • Work alongside the Director of Development and program colleagues to create and enhance resources for major gift proposals.
  • Conduct local donor visits and organize events within your assigned region.
  • Assist the Mobilization Team with engagements in congregational and faith communities that have potential for major gifts.
  • Draft compelling gift proposals and solicitations aimed at meeting or exceeding budgetary goals.
  • Maintain a stewardship calendar for timely reporting to donors.
  • Develop customized cultivation strategies for each donor and prospect in your pipeline.
  • Participate in internal strategy meetings to identify key fundraising needs.
  • Oversee wealth screenings and profile creation for the executive leadership.
  • Support the CEO in donor engagement as necessary.
  • Produce persuasive major gift proposals, donor materials, and correspondence.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 7 years of experience in major gift development or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a leadership role managing a team.
  • A collaborative spirit and respect for colleagues.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with experience in crafting compelling proposals.
  • Strong relationship management skills and a background in relationship-based fundraising.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to synthesize research and develop logical frameworks.
  • Proficiency in data management systems; experience with Salesforce is preferred.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to navigate a diverse workforce.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% and work some evenings and weekends.
