At NWACC, part-time faculty are regarded as full-time professionals who engage in teaching on a part-time basis. When an individual accepts a position as an associate faculty member, they also embrace the responsibilities and commitments inherent in being a professional educator.

Under the guidance of the relevant Division Dean or Department Chair, the primary responsibility of each associate instructor is to provide instruction for assigned courses. This obligation takes precedence over all other duties. Each instructor is expected to be punctual and prepared for each class session to the best of their ability.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, associate instructors may undertake tasks assigned by their supervisors or the Vice President for Learning and are expected to adhere to the relevant sections of the Faculty Handbook. Above all, instructors must be dedicated to the community college philosophy and the specific goals and objectives of NWACC.

Part-time faculty positions are typically assigned on a semester basis, with compensation determined by the level of education and the current part-time teaching salary scale.

Specific Responsibilities for Clinical Instructors:

  • Provide instruction for assigned classes, labs, and/or clinical sessions under the direction of the Director of Nursing Education.
  • Maintain a commitment to professional standards and the educational mission of NWACC.
  • Participate in the development and enhancement of the Nursing Program as necessary.
  • Support and implement the philosophy and conceptual framework of the Program's curricula.
  • Ensure safety and appropriate faculty/student ratios during clinical experiences.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain clinical competencies.

Qualifications:

  • Must be licensed in Arkansas or eligible for licensure.
  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (BSN) and/or Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) as mandated by the Accrediting Body.
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience.
  • Experience in clinical teaching.
  • Strong skills in communication, organization, interpersonal relations, problem-solving, and counseling.
  • Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, and legal issues affecting clinical education.
  • Proficient in contemporary nursing practices and technology, including Microsoft Office and online learning platforms.
  • Must pass background checks and drug screenings as required.

Compensation: Varies based on educational qualifications, with rates as follows:

  • Associates: $35 per hour
  • Bachelors: $39 per hour
  • Masters: $42 per hour
  • Doctorate: $45 per hour

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of higher education administration and academic programs.
  • Familiarity with campus and community resources.
  • Ability to coordinate academic and social programs effectively.
  • Competence in evaluating information and making recommendations.
