NorthWest Arkansas Community College is in search of qualified candidates to create a pool for part-time faculty in the field of Mathematics. Applications will be retained for the fiscal year. When a vacancy arises, the hiring department will assess the applications on file. After the conclusion of each fiscal year, applications will expire, necessitating a new submission to remain in the applicant pool.
Key Responsibilities
This part-time faculty role reports directly to the Academic Dean of the Division of Science & Mathematics. The instructor will be responsible for teaching between 3 to 11 load hours of mathematics courses, which may include both transfer and developmental levels, with the flexibility to teach during mornings, afternoons, evenings, or weekends as required.
TEACHING DUTIES:
- Instruct both developmental and transfer-level mathematics courses.
- Facilitate and assess student learning, prepare course syllabi and outlines, submit grades by established deadlines, and maintain student records in compliance with FERPA regulations.
- Attend college and departmental meetings and fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the division dean or department chairs.
- Engage in professional development as encouraged or mandated in certain situations.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
The following activities may be considered as professional development, some of which may be required based on program specifics, division, or college policy:
- Participate in the faculty evaluation process.
- Stay current in academic or program disciplines, including attending professional conferences and fulfilling licensure, certification, or continuing education requirements as appropriate.
- Receive training or remain updated on technological or pedagogical advancements that enhance student learning.
- Engage in college-sponsored professional development activities.
Compensation: $765 per credit hour
Qualifications
Required: A bachelor's degree with at least a minor in mathematics.
Preferred: A Master's of Science degree in Mathematics or a Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in mathematics courses applicable to a Master's of Science degree in mathematics.
