Job Summary:

The Patient Services Representative (PSR) plays a vital role in the success of our medical office, providing exceptional patient care and administrative support. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for scheduling patient appointments, greeting patients, handling high-volume calls, collecting copays, and providing general customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring timely and efficient use of provider time.
  • Patient Check-In and Verification: Capture and verify patient demographics, insurance information, and necessary forms to ensure accurate billing and medical record information.
  • Financial Transactions: Receive and process payments, reconcile daily receipts, and maintain accurate records.
  • Communication and Customer Service: Provide excellent communication and customer service to patients, families, vendors, and other business associates.
  • Problem-Solving and Resource Utilization: Troubleshoot and resolve patient issues, seeking assistance as needed to ensure timely resolution.
  • Reporting and Data Management: Compile and maintain accurate data for regular and special reports, as requested by management.
  • Referral and Scheduling Coordination: Schedule or arrange referrals to specialists, complete prior authorizations, and maintain knowledge of referral processes.
  • Caseload Management: Organize and prioritize patient caseload for the next day, ensuring timely follow-up on patient requests.
  • Education and Resource Provision: Provide patients with educational materials, distribute resource literature, and recommend community services as needed.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Adhere to OSHA regulations, HIPAA policies, and confidentiality procedures, ensuring a safe and secure work environment.
Requirements:
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent, Associate's degree preferred.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in medical reception and/or customer service, preferably in a clinic setting.
  • Skills and Abilities: Excellent communication and customer service skills, knowledge of medical terminology, insurance, and procedure codes, and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
Work Environment:

The Patient Services Representative will work in a well-lit, fast-paced, clean office environment with moderate noise levels and average indoor temperatures.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this role include prolonged periods of sitting or standing, regular use of a computer, and light to moderate lifting (up to 15 pounds).
