The Chief of Educational Services plays a pivotal role in guiding, directing, and managing the operations of Eden Autism Services, focused on supporting students with autism from early childhood through secondary education. This position acts as the educational authority and administrator to ensure adherence to relevant educational standards and regulations.

The Director is tasked with staffing and shaping the annual educational agenda, which encompasses instructional strategies, performance metrics, technology integration, and other specialized areas.

Additionally, the Director serves as a crucial link among the school, staff, students, and their families.

This role is integral to Eden's Senior Leadership Committee, ensuring that services are delivered in alignment with financial, legal, and ethical standards.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Oversight


Formulate the overarching objectives of the educational program and strategically plan for the upcoming fiscal year to guarantee effective communication and execution of the school’s initiatives.

Facilitate school planning processes to ensure the development, execution, and assessment of all educational programs and activities.

Organize, manage, evaluate, and implement clear and effective procedures for the school’s operations, consistent with the mission, values, and goals of the organization. This includes instructional programs, extracurricular activities, performance enhancement, and disciplinary systems to foster a safe and orderly environment.

Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, administrative codes, policies, and regulations.

Develop and implement policies, programs, and curricular activities that foster the educational growth of each student and the professional development of staff.

Ensure that instructional objectives for specific subjects and classrooms are established, involving staff in the creation of specific curricular goals to meet the needs of the educational program.

Gather and analyze data regarding student needs and achievements, including behavior support plans, to inform the design and implementation of services and programs, using this information to propose new initiatives and adjustments to existing programs.

Maintain visibility with students, staff, families, and the community by actively participating in school and community events to demonstrate a genuine commitment to the educational environment.

Establish and maintain a public relations framework for the school that consistently celebrates and informs families and the community about the school’s achievements, programs, and activities.

Ensure that employee and student record-keeping practices comply with state and federal regulations, implementing procedures for the secure storage and integrity of both public and confidential school records.

Complete necessary reports as requested and submit them in a timely manner.

Ensure that protocols are established for disaster preparedness, including active shooter situations, fire emergencies, severe weather, and other unusual circumstances.

Develop procedures and conduct regular drills for emergencies and disasters in accordance with local and state guidelines.

Oversee quarterly progress reports for all students, ensuring they are reviewed for progress, feedback is provided to Lead Teachers, and reports are distributed to families and educational districts on a predetermined schedule.

Administration and General Management


Conduct interviews, hire, train, and develop staff; cultivate an effective leadership team of Lead and Head Teachers with clearly defined roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations.

Provide opportunities for meaningful and professional staff development, including recommending in-house training, workshops, and conferences where staff can share successful practices and strategies.

In collaboration with the Chief Program Officer, develop the school budget for the upcoming fiscal year; manage the budget effectively and ensure that budgetary controls are in place.

Communicate regularly with staff and families, seeking input for school improvement; conduct meetings as necessary.

Oversee the procurement and approval of school supplies and materials for the new fiscal year, ensuring budget compliance.

Participate in and/or lead various meetings, including monthly Senior Leadership Team meetings, Quality Assurance sessions, and Board of Trustee meetings.

Serve as a role model, demonstrating a commitment to the highest ethical and professional standards.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Master's degree in special education or a related field. Must possess a New Jersey Teacher of the Handicapped Certificate and either a New Jersey Supervisor Certificate or New Jersey Principal Certificate.
Experience:
A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in school administration and/or teaching individuals with developmental disabilities, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
Physical and Other Requirements:


Ability to sit, stand, bend, squat, kneel, stretch, stoop, and/or reach above shoulder level for extended periods during the workday. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must maintain Professional Crisis Management (PCM) certification at a P2 level annually, including the implementation of all strategies and techniques.

Ability to move quickly to ensure the safety of students and participants at all times.

Valid driver's license with a good standing record (5 points or less).


Specialized Skills and Knowledge

Strong understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis and its application across various settings. Knowledge of task analysis and curriculum implementation. Familiarity with behavior modification techniques. High level of professional discretion and confidentiality; proactive in managing sensitive matters. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation abilities. Strong interpersonal skills with the capacity to establish and maintain effective relationships across all organizational levels, including external stakeholders such as parents and community members. Proven ability to analyze challenges, recommend, and implement solutions. Strong decision-making skills, sound judgment, and a well-developed sense of urgency. Ability to maintain composure and work effectively under pressure. Demonstrated collaborative and team-oriented approach. Capacity to multitask in a dynamic work environment. Proven leadership skills to motivate staff and garner support from families and community members. Ability to meet and exceed deadlines. Demonstrated patience, reliability, work ethic, and integrity. Excellent organizational skills; detail-oriented with strong follow-up capabilities. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (intermediate to advanced level). Willingness to travel approximately 10-20% for local community engagements.
