Job Overview:
As a vital member of our culinary team, the Pastry Kitchen Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the pastry department's daily operations. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about the culinary arts and possess a strong leadership ability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and guide kitchen staff to ensure high standards of efficiency and quality.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest inquiries and requests.
- Assist in the development and testing of innovative recipes and menu offerings.
- Oversee the daily operations of the pastry kitchen, ensuring adherence to preparation methods, portion control, and timely food service.
- Train and mentor kitchen personnel to foster a positive work environment and enhance productivity.
- Organize and review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) for catering and banquet services.
- Coordinate with service staff for seamless restaurant and event operations.
- Inspect kitchen cleanliness and organization regularly.
- Ensure that food preparation meets established quality and quantity standards for all dining services.
Qualifications:
Fluency in English is required; Spanish is a plus. Candidates must be culinary graduates with comprehensive knowledge of pastry kitchen operations and at least two years of experience in a hotel or kitchen environment, including one year in a supervisory role. Familiarity with OSHA regulations and local health department standards is essential. A valid San Diego County food handler's card is required upon hire.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs, and navigate stairs frequently. The ability to work under pressure and maintain composure is essential.
