Job Overview

What You Will Contribute at N-Tech Systems, Inc.:
This role is responsible for the commissioning of fire protection systems, which includes the installation of software applications and the implementation of necessary modifications. The systems encompass fire safety measures, mass notification systems, detectors, and various field peripherals. You will effectively communicate design specifications to clients, installation teams, and subcontractors. Additionally, you will collaborate with other trades to ensure project completion while surpassing client expectations. This position also involves mentoring and providing on-the-job training to junior technicians.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Testing, Verification, and Acceptance: Conduct routine evaluations to assess system functionality. Engage in final inspections and testing procedures. Assist in customer acceptance processes and liaise with the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). Provide training to clients on system operations. Complete and submit regular written reports. Supply plans and fire safety documentation to engineering for as-built drawings. Identify compliance and non-conformance issues, offering recommendations for system installations.

Project Communication and Coordination: Support scheduling for trade contractors to facilitate start-up services as required. Comply with local, corporate, and OSHA safety regulations.

  • Install and configure new fire alarm systems for both voice and non-voice applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fire alarm systems.
  • Identify potential risks to clients and propose effective solutions.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on alarm systems.
  • Monitor the inventory of service components.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in the fire alarm sector.
  • Experience in programming fire alarm systems, including voice alarm systems.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools, including multimeters.
  • Ability to manage physical workloads.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • High school diploma or state-recognized GED; an Associate degree in electronics or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience in the installation and maintenance of fire safety products; 5+ years preferred but not required.
  • Ability to interpret design and construction documents.
  • Willingness to work in various conditions, including climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment; working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in diverse environmental conditions.
  • Must be able to distinguish types/colors of wire.
  • Proficient in using hand tools, laptops, email, smartphones, and tablets.
  • Capable of lifting and moving equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, providing dedicated support to clients.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized for employment in the United States.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with minimal violations.
