Experience Requirements
  • Preferred: 1 year in Direct Support Care
  • Preferred: 1 year in Caregiving or Direct Patient Care
  • Preferred: 1 year in Direct Care Work
  • Preferred certifications: Nursing Assistant Registered (NAR), NAC, HCA, or Nurse Delegation
Qualifications
  • Minimum age: 18 years
  • Valid Driver's License or equivalent identification
  • Successful background check
  • High School Diploma, GED, or higher education
  • TB Test clearance
  • CPR/First Aid, BBP, HIV/AIDS certification (to be obtained within the first month of employment)
  • Therapeutic Options Right Response training (to be obtained within the first month of employment)
  • 1163 Certificate or Exemption Letter (preferred but not mandatory)

  • Providing companionship and attentive listening
  • Monitoring and reporting changes in client health or status
  • Assisting clients with meal preparation
  • Maintaining health-related equipment
  • Administering prescribed medications
  • Facilitating community outings and recreational activities
  • Supporting clients in hobbies, studies, social engagements, and personal care
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs

Position Summary

The Support Specialist is tasked with a variety of duties that contribute to the overall well-being of individuals with developmental disabilities. This role is not just about assisting with daily tasks; it is about enabling individuals to lead fulfilling lives. The Support Specialist must adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by Excel Supported Living, Inc., as well as relevant regulations.
