Compensation and Incentives
The initial salary for certified officers is determined by the applicant's previous experience as a full-time law enforcement officer. Experience as a reserve officer, constable, military service, military police, and jailer is not considered.

$10,000 New Hire Bonus for TCOLE certified officers with two years of experience (post FTO) at another Texas law enforcement agency.
  • $5,000 paid upon hire
  • $2,500 paid upon successful completion of Field Training Program
  • $2,500 paid upon completion of a successful (passing evaluation) probationary period
*This bonus is applicable only to TCOLE certified officers with two years of experience (post FTO) at another Texas law enforcement agency.

POSITION SUMMARY

This role encompasses crime prevention and law enforcement duties, including routine patrols, preliminary investigations, and traffic management within a designated area during assigned shifts.

This position typically operates under a probationary status for one year from the date of swearing in with the City of Grapevine Police Department.

Key Responsibilities

With minimal supervision, this position functions within assigned areas of the City of Grapevine, applying sound judgment developed through training, education, and experience to perform crime prevention and detection activities, enforcing federal, state, and local laws, preserving peace, and protecting property and lives. Typical responsibilities include:

  1. Conducting patrols in assigned areas to deter and detect criminal activities, typically using a city vehicle.
  2. Responding to emergency calls to safeguard lives and property, often involving criminal activities, and apprehending suspected offenders as necessary.
  3. Implementing investigative techniques to develop and prosecute offenders for each offense.
  4. Documenting investigative actions, interviews, and evidence collection through detailed reports for supervisory review.
  5. Preparing and presenting cases in relevant courts and providing testimony when required.
  6. Investigating non-criminal incidents such as missing persons and found property.
  7. Enforcing traffic regulations through patrol and citation issuance.
  8. Participating in crime prevention and education initiatives organized by the Police Department.
  9. Conducting specialized undercover investigations as assigned.
  10. Performing related duties as directed when such duties align with the position's responsibilities.
  11. Interacting professionally and respectfully with the public, colleagues, and others during daily operations.
  12. Maintaining regular and punctual attendance.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must:
  1. At a minimum, possess a high school diploma or GED.
  2. Hold a current TCOLE Peace Officer's license.
  3. Be at least 21 years of age.
  4. Have a TCOLE honorable discharge from any previous agency(s), if applicable.
  5. Have or be eligible to obtain a valid Texas driver's license by hire date.
  6. Pass a comprehensive background investigation, polygraph exam, and psychological evaluation.
  7. Pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and vision assessments.
Applicants must NOT:

  1. Have any DWI (alcohol or drugs) convictions in the last ten years.
  2. Have any felony convictions.
  3. Have been convicted or placed on community supervision for any criminal offense above the grade of Class B misdemeanor or a Class B misdemeanor within the last ten years.
  4. Have any convictions for assault family violence.
