Position Overview

The Senior Business Intelligence Systems Engineer is responsible for the administration, operation, monitoring, tuning, and patching of the corporate Business Intelligence (BI) and Analytics Systems. This role requires extensive expertise in the maintenance and functionality of BI applications and their components. The Senior BI Systems Engineer develops and manages monitoring systems to assess usage and ensure operational reliability, taking a leadership role in executing complex technical tasks and supervising operations support personnel.

This engineer engages in multiple projects within a deadline-oriented environment while upholding a high standard for customer satisfaction, advocating for the effective utilization of BI/Analytic Systems throughout the organization. They remain informed about upcoming features and enhancements, coordinate patches and upgrades, and contribute to project planning and proof-of-concept initiatives, influencing the advancement and optimal use of BI/Analytic Systems. Additionally, this position involves training technical staff and business users, researching, documenting, and recommending best practices to continuously enhance and address the business requirements of the organization. On-call and after-hours support may be necessary for operations and project assistance, reporting to the Senior Manager of Business Intelligence & Analytic Systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the administration of BI/Analytic Systems, including installation, configuration, tuning, updates, and maintenance of software, applications, and servers for various environments. Design and implement monitoring, reporting, and alerting systems to ensure optimal performance of BI/Analytic Systems and proactively identify anomalies to maintain business uptime. Lead and mentor operations support staff in incident resolution and project delivery. Develop and execute project plans, risk assessments, and contingency strategies. Research, document, and propose best practices for the operation, support, and application of BI/Analytic Systems. Advocate for the effective use of BI/Analytic Systems across the organization. Plan and manage patches and upgrades. Create and maintain a support knowledge base. Participate in project planning and proof-of-concept activities. Provide on-call and after-hours support as required.

Position Qualifications:

7+ years of experience in BI systems administration and support within a medium to large organization. 5+ years of experience managing Power BI, Tableau, SAS, or similar systems. 3+ years of experience in Windows, Linux, or AIX system administration. 3+ years of experience in SQL tuning with large-scale data sources. 3+ years of experience leading BI initiatives in a medium to large organization. Strong experience with Oracle, Azure Synapse, SQL Server, and DB2 data platforms. Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, Outlook, OneNote, SharePoint, Teams, Slack, and JIRA. Familiarity with Agile methodologies, Data Warehouse, and Data Lake concepts. Strong leadership and collaboration abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical skills for effective problem-solving. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining high customer satisfaction. Capable of conveying technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Ability to mentor and train others in both small and large group settings. BS or MS in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience. Experience in the Cruise/Travel industry is preferred.
