Overview


The role of the Developer involves the creation and enhancement of proprietary software applications or extensions through coding in a technical language to fulfill business needs and objectives.

This may encompass interpreting technical specifications to develop applications or facilitate data integration between systems, conducting testing, and completing necessary technical documentation.

The developer may also provide support to end users within the organization for specific code, including troubleshooting.

Specialized Skills and Technologies


Proficiency in Java / J2EE, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, experience with public cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS), Microservices, GraphQL, REST, and Event-driven design solutions (Kafka / RabbitMQ / SQS, etc.), along with NOSQL and SQL.


Primary Responsibilities

- Lead large-scale Application Development projects and programs in a team leader capacity.
- Direct offshore application development initiatives.
- Maintain expertise in Software Code Development best practices and act as a thought leader within the SGWS organization.
- Facilitate training and educational programs for the IT team on Code Development and Engineering.
- Mentor and develop junior Application Developers.
- Oversee the activities of third-party Development teams.
- Collect necessary information to outline work scope for solutions that meet business requirements and data needs.
- Act as a liaison between Divisions/Functions and IT on projects and enhancements.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Additional Primary Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree or a combination of relevant work experience and education.
- 8+ years in application development or a comparable field.
- Experience managing and guiding third-party Application Development teams.
- Proven track record in leading and supporting large-scale Application Development projects and programs.
- Extensive experience throughout the entire project life cycle (SDLC), whether implementing new software or enhancing existing functionalities.
- Familiarity with interfacing into and from platforms (using APIs, ESB, SAP PI, etc.).
- Participation in Agile teams.
- Proficiency in driving the Behavior-Driven-Design (BDD) process.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Physical Demands

Physical demands include significant time spent sitting and typing/keyboarding, utilizing a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor), or adding machine.

Physical activities may involve walking, bending, reaching, standing, squatting, and stooping.

May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 20lbs.
