The Lead Electrical Engineer at the Lake Charles Facility plays a pivotal role in guiding technical initiatives and providing strategic insights into the refinery's electrical infrastructure. This position encompasses the management of maintenance protocols, the oversight of enhancement projects, and the administration of financial resources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Partnering with operational and maintenance teams to foster ongoing enhancements and reliability of electrical systems and components.
  • Delivering expert guidance for the diagnosis and resolution of equipment issues, including power distribution networks, motor control systems, switchgear, uninterruptible power supplies, and substations.
  • Offering technical assistance for the design, specification, installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
  • Engineering upgrades and expansions of electrical systems, formulating construction scopes, preparing drawings, providing construction support, and supervising start-up activities.
  • Ensuring the reliability and maintenance of existing electrical equipment.
  • Supporting maintenance planning and the execution of significant equipment repairs and unit turnarounds.
  • Engaging in industry technical societies and refining electrical reliability networks.
  • Coordinating and overseeing contractor activities, including vendor interactions.
  • Leading and participating in analyses to determine root causes of failures.
  • Identifying and developing scopes and justifications for projects aimed at enhancing electrical infrastructure.
  • Providing support for refinery electrical operations outside of standard business hours as required.
  • Interfacing with external power agencies as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
  • Authorized to work in the job posting country without restrictions.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of industrial electrical experience, particularly in power distribution systems.
  • At least 3 years of experience in refining, petrochemical, or a related sector.
  • Prior experience with the installation and maintenance of protection relays, variable frequency drives, transformers, circuit breakers, and/or motors.
  • Available to respond to off-hour callouts as needed to support refinery operations.
  • Capable of maintaining a clean-shaven appearance to ensure proper fit of respirators or face masks.
  • Willing to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10 or more years of industrial electrical experience, especially in power distribution systems.
  • Proven knowledge of industrial safety practices and standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, ISA, and API).
  • Experience with plant start-ups and troubleshooting complex electrical control and operational challenges.
  • Strong focus on safety with a comprehensive understanding of code requirements, including OSHA and Process Safety Management.
  • Familiarity with SEL and Multilin relays.
  • Experience with ETAP software.
