The Lead Electrical Engineer at the Lake Charles Facility plays a crucial role in delivering technical leadership, expertise, and strategic insight in the management of the refinery's electrical systems. This position encompasses oversight of maintenance initiatives, coordination of enhancement projects, and financial oversight.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Partnering with operational and maintenance teams to foster continuous enhancement and dependability of electrical systems and components.
  • Offering technical guidance for the diagnosis and resolution of equipment issues, including power distribution networks, motor controls, switchgear, uninterruptible power supplies, and substations.
  • Delivering technical assistance for the design, specification, installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
  • Designing upgrades and expansions for electrical systems, including scope development, drafting, construction support, and commissioning oversight.
  • Providing maintenance support to ensure the reliability of existing electrical infrastructure.
  • Assisting in the planning and execution of significant equipment repairs and unit turnarounds.
  • Engaging in electrical reliability networks and industry technical organizations.
  • Coordinating and overseeing contractor activities, including vendor liaison.
  • Leading and participating in root cause analysis for failures.
  • Identifying and formulating proposals for electrical infrastructure enhancement projects.
  • Supporting refinery electrical operations during off-hours as required.
  • Interfacing with external power agencies as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
  • Authorized to work in the job posting country without restrictions.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of industrial electrical experience, particularly in power distribution systems.
  • At least 3 years of experience in refining, petrochemical, or a related sector.
  • Prior experience with the installation and maintenance of protection relays, variable frequency drives, transformers, circuit breakers, and/or motors.
  • Available to respond to off-hour callouts as needed to support refinery operations.
  • Capable of maintaining a clean-shaven appearance to ensure proper sealing of respirators/masks.
  • Willing to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10 or more years of industrial electrical experience, particularly in power distribution systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of industrial safety practices and standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, ISA, and API).
  • Experience with plant start-ups and troubleshooting complex electrical control and operational issues.
  • Strong safety orientation with knowledge of regulatory requirements, including OSHA and Process Safety Management.
  • Familiarity with SEL and Multilin relays.
  • Experience with ETAP software.
