Job Overview:

Position Summary:

The Lead Cloud Operations Engineer is responsible for architecting, developing, and overseeing Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructures that support Fidelity's XTRAC workflow solutions utilizing WebSphere, TcServer, and Apache technologies. This role involves collaborating with software development teams to enhance operational processes and methodologies through the use of Java, SQL, and various scripting languages such as bash and ksh. The position also includes deploying, monitoring, and resolving issues within customer environments that utilize WebSphere, TcServer, and Apache.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop web-based applications functioning in a client/server architecture.
  • Assess departmental requirements and provide recommendations for technical direction.
  • Engage with systems analysts and fellow software engineers to conceptualize systems and gather insights on project constraints, capabilities, performance needs, and interfaces.
  • Oversee the development and execution of software system testing and validation protocols, including programming and documentation.
  • Document and promote enterprise best practices.
  • Establish and disseminate best practices for DevOps, SecOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure management.
  • Create tools and scripts aimed at enhancing the efficiency of operational tasks.
  • Design, implement, and maintain AWS infrastructure with a focus on operational, security, and compliance aspects.
  • Facilitate continuous deployment processes, ensuring comprehensive orchestration of deployment activities.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent foreign education) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related discipline, accompanied by five (5) years of experience as a Lead Cloud Operations Engineer (or a similar role) focused on deploying, monitoring, and managing software infrastructure using Jenkins and Ansible.

Alternatively, a Master’s degree (or equivalent foreign education) in the aforementioned fields with three (3) years of relevant experience will also be considered.

Skills and Expertise:

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • Proven expertise in supporting and deploying web application servers in production environments, including WebLogic, JBOSS, Apache, Tomcat, or Apache HTTPD servers, as well as automating deployments in lower environments.
  • Experience in establishing infrastructure utilizing AWS services such as EC2, Elastic Container Services (ECS), IAM, RDS, and Lambda; crafting AWS Launch configurations based on customized AMIs; and implementing AWS solutions via CloudFormation and Elastic Load Balancer.
  • Proficiency in automating End-to-End Continuous Integration/Deployment/Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines; constructing CI servers using Jenkins, Artifactory, Maven, or GIT; and managing build artifacts with Jfrog Artifactory.
  • Expertise in driving microservices builds utilizing Maven, Dockerfile, and Jenkins; deploying to Docker registries and Kubernetes; and automating repetitive tasks for swift deployment of critical applications using Ansible.
