Job Overview

Position Title: Piping General Superintendent

Reports to: Construction Manager

Position Status: Permanent – Full Time

FLSA Status: Exempt- STOT

Location: Pasadena, TX

Work Schedule: Standard schedule is Monday through Friday.

Objective: Oversee, strategize, and coordinate all Piping construction operations for EPC projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all activities are conducted safely, maintaining a secure environment for all personnel and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Supervise H+M teams and crews to guarantee timely completion of tasks in accordance with quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the General Superintendent, Project Manager, Construction Manager, Construction Engineer, Client Representatives, and Subcontractors to achieve project objectives.
  • Develop comprehensive work plans for site crews, reviewing and adjusting progress weekly to align with schedules.
  • Confirm the availability of tools, equipment, materials, and labor necessary for executing Piping tasks.
  • Ensure Supervisors adhere to project timelines and budget throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Facilitate effective coordination among construction disciplines to ensure overall project success.
  • Mentor and develop Field Supervisors to enhance their skills and contributions to the organization.
  • Conduct annual evaluations of Field Supervision performance.
  • Manage, estimate, and communicate change orders as they arise during projects.
  • Oversee QC inspections and ensure completion of construction documentation by supervision.
  • Review design constructability to meet quality, cost, and schedule commitments.
  • Identify and implement improvements within the Piping department.
  • Promote the adoption of H+M's TIP behavioral-based safety program.
  • Adhere to company policies as outlined in the H+M Handbook.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Superintendent and Construction Management.
  • Follow both written and verbal instructions.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • A minimum of fifteen years of formal training and experience in heavy industrial projects such as refineries, petrochemical facilities, and power plants.
  • Proven experience at the Superintendent level or higher across multiple projects.
  • Familiarity with brownfield construction and the execution of multiple projects.
  • Understanding of Piping construction methods, techniques, and labor requirements applicable to industrial projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with project teams, clients, subcontractors, and craft personnel.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities to manage supervision, craft employees, budgets, and construction timelines.
  • Proficient in scheduling software, including Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
  • Competent in standard software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer for daily coordination tasks.

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Capability to reach for, grasp, and manipulate objects using hands and arms.

Work Environment: This role involves working in both typical office settings and indoor/outdoor manufacturing environments, which may include exposure to varying weather conditions, elevated heights, and the physical handling of tools and equipment. The position requires the use of standard personal protective equipment as well as advanced protective gear as necessary.
