Position Summary:
We are seeking a driven and self-sufficient Geotechnical Project Engineer to join our team. This role is based in our Pasadena, CA office and is pivotal in overseeing projects from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities:
The Geotechnical Project Engineer will:

  • Plan, interpret, organize, schedule, and manage projects through all stages of development.
  • Establish and monitor project budgets, manage the project team, and assist with scheduling and billing.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and oversee all project activities.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:

  • A B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • An M.S. Degree in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred.
  • A Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) certification is required; a Licensed Geotechnical Engineer (GE) certification is preferred.

Experience:
Applicants should have:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical consulting.
  • Familiarity with local engineering practices and experience in client interaction and business development.

Essential Duties:
The successful candidate will manage various geotechnical, forensic, and construction projects, including:

  • Planning and supervising soil exploration and classification.
  • Scheduling laboratory tests to assess soil behavior and properties.
  • Evaluating geological and seismic hazards and providing mitigation strategies.
  • Analyzing slopes and distressed structures, offering design recommendations.

Skills Required:
Ideal candidates will demonstrate:

  • A thorough understanding of project management principles, including work plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Proficiency in engineering calculations and analyses.
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant laws, codes, and standards in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
