Position Title: Piping General Superintendent

Reports to: Construction Manager

Position Status: Permanent – Full Time

FLSA Status: Exempt- STOT

Location: Pasadena, TX

Work Schedule: Standard schedule is Monday through Friday.

Objective: Strategically plan, develop, coordinate, and oversee all Piping construction operations for EPC projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all activities are conducted safely, promoting a secure working environment for all personnel and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Oversee H+M Supervision and crews to guarantee timely completion of work in accordance with quality standards.
  • Collaborate with General Superintendent, Project Manager, Construction Manager, Construction Engineer, Client Representatives, and Subcontractors to achieve project objectives.
  • Develop detailed work plans for site crews, reviewing and adjusting progress weekly to align with project timelines.
  • Ensure adequate tools, equipment, materials, and labor are available for executing Piping tasks.
  • Monitor Supervisors to ensure adherence to project schedules and budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Facilitate effective coordination among construction disciplines to drive overall project success.
  • Mentor and manage Field Supervisors to enhance their skills and contributions to the organization.
  • Conduct annual evaluations of Field Supervision performance.
  • Prepare, manage, and communicate change orders as they arise during projects.
  • Ensure Quality Control inspections and completion of construction documentation are managed effectively by Supervision.
  • Assess the constructability of designs to meet quality, cost, and schedule commitments.
  • Identify and implement improvements within the Piping department.
  • Promote the adoption of H+M's TIP behavioral-based safety program.
  • Adhere to company policies as outlined in the H+M Handbook.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Superintendent and Construction Management.
  • Follow both written and verbal instructions.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • A minimum of fifteen years of formal training and experience in heavy industrial projects, including refineries, petrochemical complexes, and power plants.
  • Proven experience at the Superintendent level or higher across multiple projects.
  • Expertise in brownfield construction and multi-project execution.
  • Familiarity with Piping construction methods, techniques, and labor requirements applicable to industrial projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with project team members, clients, subcontractors, and craft personnel.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a focus on managing Supervision, craft personnel, budgets, and construction timelines.
  • Proficient in scheduling software such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
  • Competent in using standard software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer for daily coordination tasks.

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Capability to use hands and arms for reaching, grasping, and manipulating objects.

Work Environment: This role involves working in both office and indoor/outdoor manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various weather conditions, elevated heights, climbing stairs and ladders, and handling tools and mechanical equipment. The position requires the use of standard manufacturing personal protective equipment, as well as advanced protective gear when necessary.
