Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Process Engineer, you will be responsible for a variety of critical tasks aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring safety within the plant. Your duties will include:
- Monitoring and troubleshooting production conditions, rates, quality, and yield to support Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) metrics.
- Proposing modifications to processes that enhance plant performance and minimize costs.
- Ensuring the correct design and installation of new equipment.
- Executing specialized process studies, projects, and safety initiatives.
- Implementing improvements to production procedures and record-keeping practices.
- Identifying opportunities to enhance safety, productivity, quality, and cost through diligent monitoring of process conditions.
- Developing a comprehensive understanding of the process by reviewing Training Manuals, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and other Process Safety Information (PSI).
- Collaborating with production supervision, technical staff, maintenance, and operators to leverage operational knowledge.
- Utilizing tools such as Pi or Statistical Process Control (SPC) for effective problem-solving.
- Seeking innovative solutions to existing process challenges.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Reading daily shift reports and maintaining communication with the control room to assist the Production Team in troubleshooting process issues.
- Planning and coordinating new product or grade trials as necessary.
- Proposing modifications to existing processes and managing the Management of Change (MOC) process where applicable.
- Updating PSI records, including P&IDs, equipment details, and safety systems.
- Leading problem-solving initiatives, What-If analyses, and participating in Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies.
- Designing new vessels, equipment, piping, and instrumentation or evaluating current installations.
- Requesting quotes from vendors for new or replacement equipment.
- Collaborating with Project Engineering to define new capital projects and coordinate production-related tasks, including commissioning and procedure revisions.
- Preparing environmental reports as required.
Safety and Training:
Contributing to a safe work environment by engaging in safety programs, committees, or teams, and conducting safety audits. Identifying occupational and process safety hazards and proactively implementing changes to mitigate risks.
Developing a functional understanding of the plant's process control systems to effectively retrieve data, analyze trends, and troubleshoot issues. Conducting training for personnel on new systems, equipment, and procedures implemented through MOCs.
