Key Responsibilities

  • Direct a high-performing engineering team to align with the mission, vision, and strategic objectives of the Technical Services Division.
  • Ensure the engineering team is equipped with the necessary tools and resources for success.
  • Collaborate with program managers to establish requirements and execution strategies, appropriately staff projects, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, curiosity, and commitment to the mission; foster a stimulating and collaborative work environment.
  • Partner with senior leadership to meet business objectives related to revenue, retention, and growth.
  • Provide expertise across various engineering disciplines, including software development, network architecture, reverse engineering, embedded systems, hardware productization, and RF communications.
  • Oversee team leads and their members by clearly defining performance expectations and offering constructive feedback, recognition, and rewards as needed.
  • Guide engineering staff to facilitate technical and professional development opportunities.
  • Solicit, assess, and act on feedback from the engineering organization to ensure organizational health and career advancement for staff.
  • Identify and address organizational gaps related to current and future projects.
  • Collaborate with program management and senior leadership to understand upcoming business needs and formulate execution plans.
  • Work with team leads to establish appropriate engineering and documentation processes; ensure adherence to these processes for all engineering activities.
  • Continuously evaluate and challenge the effectiveness and necessity of processes to maintain a lean yet efficient engineering organization.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies and trends to make informed recommendations and decisions regarding the technology roadmap.

Qualifications

  • Active security clearance is required.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of technical professionals while fostering an innovative, collaborative, and high-performance culture.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate a culture where employees are inspired to succeed through collaboration, transparency, and open communication.
  • Adaptability to changing circumstances, evolving priorities, and new technologies.
  • Preferred candidates will possess a BS or MS degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Ability to assess risks and develop risk management strategies and contingency plans to ensure successful project execution and delivery.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in executing complex interdisciplinary engineering projects in a mission-driven environment.
  • Experience in collaborating on the development and management of a technology roadmap and product portfolio.
  • Location: Washington Metropolitan Area with potential travel to customer sites.
  • Potential for 10% travel beyond the Washington Metropolitan Area.
