Healthcare Admissions Coordinator

As a Healthcare Admissions Coordinator at Aurora Behavioral Healthcare San Diego, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and efficient admission process for patients. Your primary focus will be to balance patient comfort with the operational needs of the organization while adhering to financial objectives.
Compensation: $20/hr. to $30/hr.
Work Schedule:
- Available to work Sunday through Saturday, with variable hours ranging from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the patient check-in and check-out procedures, which include verifying identification, updating demographic and insurance details, and ensuring all necessary forms are completed accurately.
- Engage with patients, insurance providers, and healthcare professionals to collect essential information for precise registration, including the assignment of Medical Record Numbers.
- Confirm patient insurance benefits through verbal communication and provide written documentation to the insurance companies.
- Process physician orders for patient admissions and complete all related admission protocols, ensuring all required signatures are obtained.
- Facilitate pre-authorizations for admissions when necessary and maintain accurate patient identification records.
- Conduct admissions during regular hours and verify documentation for after-hours admissions.
- Handle a high volume of incoming calls from patients and insurance representatives.
- Maintain necessary supplies for the admissions process.
- Foster positive relationships within and between departments.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Exhibit conduct that aligns with Aurora's ethical standards.
- Adhere to safety, infection control, and security protocols established by the facility.
- Support customer service standards for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Address customer inquiries regarding billing and payments, escalating issues as required.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare environment.
Knowledge of medical terminology and billing practices is preferred.
