Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Healthcare Referral Coordinator to join our team at Family Health Centers of San Diego. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for coordinating referrals, ensuring accurate and timely documentation, and providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Referral Coordination: Complete all required documentation accurately, thoroughly, and in a timely manner, in accordance with department standards and patient insurance requirements.
  • Productivity Standards: Meet daily referral modification productivity standards for Referral Coordinators, adhering to referral processes and guidelines.
  • Clinical Information: Provide appropriate clinical information to specialists, as per referral guidelines.
  • Administrative Tasks: Prepare and process all referral and pre-authorization paperwork, including gathering pertinent information via electronic health records (EHR), from incoming messages, or from clinical teams.
  • Communication: Contact various clinics, facilities, and companies to obtain information to accurately complete referral/pre-authorization requests.
Requirements
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in an ambulatory care setting or similar setting is strongly preferred.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Medical Terminology: Medical Terminology Course required, or able to complete within 90 days of hire.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
