As a Healthcare Admissions Coordinator at Aurora Behavioral Healthcare San Diego, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and efficient patient admission process, prioritizing both patient comfort and the operational needs of the organization.

Compensation: $20/hr. to $30/hr.

Work Schedule:

  • Available Sunday to Saturday, with variable hours ranging from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the patient check-in and check-out process, which includes verifying identification, updating demographic and insurance details, and ensuring all necessary forms are completed and signed during the patient visit.
  • Engage with patients, insurance providers, and healthcare professionals to collect essential information for accurate registration, including the assignment of Medical Record Numbers.
  • Conduct verbal verification of patient insurance benefits and provide written documentation to insurance companies.
  • Process physician orders for patient admissions and complete all related admission procedures, ensuring necessary signatures are obtained on admission or commitment documents.
  • Secure pre-authorization for admissions when required and prepare patient identification documentation.
  • Facilitate admissions during standard hours and verify documentation for after-hours admissions.
  • Handle a high volume of daily phone inquiries from patients, insurance companies, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain necessary supplies for the admissions process.
  • Foster positive working relationships across departments.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Exhibit conduct that aligns with Aurora's ethical standards.
  • Adhere to safety, infection control, and security protocols.
  • Support customer service standards for both internal and external clients.
  • Address customer inquiries regarding billing and payments as necessary.
  • Escalate billing issues when appropriate.
Qualifications:

1 year of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.

Knowledge of medical terminology and billing practices is advantageous.
