The Admissions/Intake Counselor plays a critical role in the patient access process, working closely with medical professionals to screen candidates for admission, perform insurance verifications, and conduct intake assessments. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the intake and admission process for incoming patients, ensuring a smooth transition into treatment.
  • Perform insurance benefit verifications and communicate the results to patients, families, and internal staff.
  • Conduct thorough intake assessments to identify patient needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
  • Respond to patient inquiries in a timely and professional manner, providing accurate information about facility policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with medical and psychiatric personnel to ensure appropriate recommendations and admissions.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families throughout the treatment process.
  • Perform ongoing assessments of patient needs and implement crisis intervention and referral strategies as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a social services field (e.g., psychology, counseling, social work, sociology, health administration, nursing) or RN preferred.
  • One or more years of experience in mental/behavioral health, working with individuals in a clinical or observational capacity.
  • Current licensure or certification in a clinical specialty (e.g., CAC, RN, LCSW).
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required.
