Patient Services Representative

At People Inc., we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Patient Services Representative to join our team. As a key member of our core care team, you will have direct patient contact and be responsible for managing processes to streamline a patient's encounter from beginning to end.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Customer Satisfaction: Demonstrate a primary goal of customer satisfaction through positive interaction with patients, families, and care providers in a respectful, courteous, confidential, and caring manner.
  • Reception Duties: Perform reception duties, including greeting patients, patient registration, and gathering benefit coverage. Educate patients and/or caregivers on benefit coverage.
  • Appointment Scheduling: Provide patients with receipts for payment, schedule patient appointments, and set up transportation as needed.
  • Referrals and Prescriptions: Collect co-payments as required, obtain patient referrals and prescriptions for all services within the department, and coordinate external referrals.
  • Communication: Contact patients, as necessary, to communicate appointment dates and times, and assume follow-up responsibility and completion of the internal and external process that includes patient scheduling and the patient's admission of process into rehab services.
  • Insurance and Billing: Obtain pre-approval/authorization from insurance companies, when required, and monitor incoming patient information and forward to appropriate providers and support staff as needed, as compliant with HIPAA rules and regulations.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate patient attendance records in Electronic Health Record System.
  • Professional Development: Maintain a thorough understanding of all the technical aspects of the PSR position, attend required in-service programs, including continuing education activities and scheduled meetings, and adhere to People Inc. plan-wide policies on patient confidentiality.
Requirements:
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED
  • Experience: 1 year of related experience
  • Skills: Ability to read and write, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
