Role of the Patient Services Representative

The Patient Services Representative plays a vital role in advancing the mission and vision of Neighborhood Healthcare by delivering exceptional, patient-focused customer service in a collaborative team setting. This position is essential in fostering a positive patient experience by addressing administrative needs and embodying our core values: Compassion, Above & Beyond, Generosity, Integrity, and Teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide outstanding customer service while assisting patients in a fast-paced environment, ensuring their needs are met efficiently and courteously.
  • Evaluate insurance eligibility and inform patients about available programs through Neighborhood Healthcare.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments accurately, adhering to established protocols, and reschedule as necessary.
  • Process payments for services and maintain accurate records in the system.
  • Ensure patient records are current and correct, making necessary updates in the electronic system.
  • Effectively manage challenging situations and propose solutions for patients as needed.
  • Monitor provider schedules to maximize appointment availability.
  • Update patient charts in electronic health records upon their arrival.
  • Respond promptly and empathetically to patients and staff, respecting their psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural beliefs.
  • Maintain professional relationships with all staff levels, clients, and the public.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve departmental goals and objectives.

Qualifications

Skills: Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required. Excellent verbal communication skills are essential. Proficiency in computer applications, including spreadsheets and databases, is necessary. Strong organizational abilities and effective interaction with clinic personnel and diverse populations are crucial. Exceptional customer service skills are a must.

Education: High School diploma or GED is required.

Experience: A minimum of one year of customer service experience is required. Experience in a healthcare environment is preferred. Familiarity with electronic medical records is advantageous.

Neighborhood Healthcare provides a comprehensive benefits package, including Medical, Dental, and Vision Plans, generous vacation time, holidays, sick/personal leave, Volunteer Time Off (VTO), a 403b Retirement plan, optional Health and Wellness events, and more.

Compensation: $22.00 to $25.00 per hour, based on experience.
