Position Overview:

The Environmental Health & Safety Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) initiatives while ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. This position requires a blend of technical knowledge, analytical abilities, and a commitment to sustainable practices. The EHS Manager will work collaboratively with various teams to enhance operational efficiency, promote safety advancements, and ensure compliance within our manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and execute a detailed Safety, Health, and Environmental strategy that aligns with the corporate vision, fostering a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Guarantee compliance with relevant regulations set forth by OSHA, EPA, and other governing bodies.
  • Establish and uphold occupational safety standards, implementing procedures that ensure regulatory compliance and minimize workplace injuries and associated costs.
  • Manage the company's injury management program, which includes overseeing medical case management and return-to-work initiatives.
  • Conduct thorough safety inspections to verify compliance with safety protocols, including personal protective equipment and environmental permits.
  • Assess and authorize the use of chemicals within the organization, maintaining an updated inventory and Safety Data Sheets accessible to all employees.
  • Analyze injury data to identify trends and develop strategies aimed at reducing workplace accidents.
  • Maintain the OSHA 300 Log and ensure the completion of annual summaries for regulatory posting.
  • Ensure the organization meets all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Design and deliver training programs on safety and environmental topics to enhance employee awareness and meet regulatory obligations.
  • Assist legal teams with matters related to environmental, health, safety, and workers' compensation litigation.
  • Implement proactive safety measures and policies to mitigate risks of accidents and occupational illnesses.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct risk assessments and audits, identifying potential hazards and recommending preventive measures.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive emergency response plans for EHS-related incidents.
  • Establish and lead the Emergency Response Team and Facility Safety Committee, ensuring effective safety communication.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of safety records to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Promote sustainable practices by integrating eco-friendly initiatives to reduce the environmental footprint of operations.
  • Utilize advanced technology to improve safety monitoring, reporting, and incident management.
  • Engage with various departments and external partners to facilitate effective communication and training on EHS matters.
  • Stay informed about evolving regulations and industry best practices.
  • Oversee the incident investigation process, providing guidance and support to site management.
  • Develop and manage contractor safety programs, ensuring compliance with safe work practices.
  • Work collaboratively with teams across Production, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, and Engineering to achieve shared safety objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or a related engineering discipline is preferred.
  • A minimum of eight years of experience in Health and Safety within a manufacturing context.
  • At least five years of experience in a leadership role focused on safety.
  • Proven experience with EHS management systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Environmental and Occupational Health regulations (OSHA/EPA/NFPA).
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently to devise solutions.
  • Strong leadership, influencing, and collaboration capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • ISO Certification, particularly ISO 14001, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of addressing complex technical challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across departments and influence stakeholders at all levels.
