Position Overview:

The Environmental Health & Safety Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) initiatives while ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. This role requires a blend of technical knowledge, analytical skills, and a commitment to sustainability. The EHS Manager will work collaboratively with various teams to implement enhancements, optimize processes, and foster safety innovations within our manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and execute a detailed Safety, Health, and Environmental strategy that aligns with the organization's objectives, promoting a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Guarantee compliance with regulations set forth by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and other relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Establish and uphold occupational safety and health standards, developing procedures to ensure organizational compliance and reduce workplace injuries and illnesses.
  • Oversee the management of workplace injuries, including medical case oversight, return-to-work initiatives, and claims processing.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of workplace safety and health conditions to verify compliance with safety equipment, fire safety protocols, and environmental permits.
  • Assess and authorize the use of chemicals within the organization, maintaining an updated inventory and Safety Data Sheets accessible to all employees.
  • Track and analyze injury data to devise strategies aimed at minimizing workplace accidents and injuries.
  • Manage the OSHA 300 Log and supervise the completion of the annual summary for compliance reporting.
  • Ensure the organization meets all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations, permits, and certifications at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Design and deliver training programs on safety, environmental, and occupational health topics to enhance employee awareness and fulfill regulatory obligations.
  • Assist legal teams with matters related to environmental, health, safety, and workers' compensation litigation.
  • Implement proactive safety measures, training, and policies to avert accidents, injuries, and occupational health issues.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Facilities teams to perform risk assessments and audits, identifying and mitigating potential hazards through engineering solutions.
  • Work with teams to develop and maintain comprehensive emergency response plans for EHS-related incidents.
  • Establish and manage an Emergency Response Team and oversee all safety communications.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting and record-keeping for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Promote sustainability initiatives by adopting eco-friendly practices and reducing the environmental footprint of operations.
  • Utilize advanced technological solutions to improve safety and environmental monitoring, reporting, and incident management.
  • Engage with various internal departments, senior management, and external stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and training on HSE matters.
  • Stay informed about evolving regulations and industry best practices.
  • Oversee the incident investigation program, providing guidance and support to site management.
  • Develop a contractor safety program and monitor contractor activities to ensure adherence to safe work practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Production, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, and Engineering, to achieve shared goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or a related engineering discipline is preferred.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in Health and Safety within a manufacturing context.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in a leadership role focused on safety.
  • Proven experience in implementing EHS management systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Environmental and Occupational Health regulations (OSHA/EPA/NFPA).
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently to identify solutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership, influencing, and teamwork capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • ISO Certification, particularly ISO 14001, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of addressing complex technical challenges and executing effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and influence stakeholders at all levels.
