Job Summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is seeking a skilled Building Maintenance Lead to join our team. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing physical structures, equipment, and grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate with the Maintenance Supervisor to review, assign, and inspect work order assignments for maintenance technicians.
  2. Assist with the recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding process of new maintenance technicians.
  3. Inspect, repair, and maintain properties, including the Alhambra campus, and recommend outside contractors when necessary.
  4. Schedule and perform regular maintenance and repairs on heating and air conditioning units.
  5. Maintain and repair mechanical equipment on a regular schedule.
  6. Replace lights, fuses, and batteries as needed.
  7. Perform electrical and motor repairs as needed.
  8. Paint rooms, buildings, including officers' quarters, and perform masonry, woodwork, and furnishings.
  9. Assist in directing volunteers engaged in ground maintenance activities.
  10. Interpret company policies to volunteer workers and enforce safety regulations.
  11. Provide preventive vehicle maintenance to all Sacramento County Operations vehicles.
  12. Perform routine safety checks with the Maintenance Supervisor and site supervisors.
Requirements
  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two years of experience in building and property maintenance and/or equipment repair.
  2. The ability to pay attention to detail, set priorities for projects, and maintain an inventory of supplies as needed.
  3. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License and ability to drive a DOT-Regulated Salvation Army vehicle.
  4. Must pass pre-employment and enroll in TSA random drug testing program as required by the Department of Transportation (DOT).
  5. Must be 21 years or older.
  6. Authorize The Salvation Army to add name to the CA DMV Pull Notice Program.
  7. Must pass annual Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
  8. Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.
Physical Requirements
  1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
  2. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects.
  3. Ability to reach overhead.
  4. Ability to operate telephone.
  5. Ability to lift up to 50-70 lbs. for positions that require lifting.
  6. Ability to operate a computer.
  7. Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information.
  8. Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools.
