Responsibilities

The Space Operations Command (SpOC) mission is to generate and enhance combat-ready space forces, source and provide operational forces for various services and combatant commands, and advocate for space power from future developments to fielded capabilities. The SATCOM Mission Area Team (MAT) is dedicated to augmenting forces with resilient, persistent, survivable, and highly mobile military and commercial satellite communications.

  • Deliver Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) along with subject matter expertise (SME) for the Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Mission Area Team (MAT) focusing on Protected SATCOM systems, including but not limited to: Milstar, Advanced EHF, Evolved Strategic SATCOM (ESS), Enhanced Polar System (EPS), EPS-Recapitalization (EPS-R), Teleports, and Gateways. The contractor will utilize extensive technical knowledge of SATCOM principles and operations across both unclassified and classified systems.
  • Assist Functional Area Managers (FAM) and Weapon System Leads for USSF Command and Control (C2) operations units by reviewing and providing recommendations for the generation, presentation, and sustainment of space operational forces; offer technical expertise and guidance in developing and reviewing policies related to oversight of unit personnel and equipment utilizing the Defense Readiness and Reporting System (DRRS); implement and update USSF Readiness Reporting for mission essential tasks (METs), publish mission directives, validate monthly Mission Essential Task List (METL) assessments; support the development of Unit Type Codes (UTCs); establish criteria for and monitor readiness reporting; and assist in force posturing, analysis, and execution activities. Additionally, aid in developing, reviewing, coordinating, and presenting readiness briefings for HQ USSF and SpOC senior leadership.
  • Provide support through document review, analysis, and recommendations concerning USSF/SpOC support of Nuclear Command, Control, and Communication (NC3) operations.
  • Assist in the authorization or review of Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) documents for SATCOM C2 systems.
  • Gather and analyze inputs for resource adjustments to the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) process as requested, including Program Objective Memorandum (POM), Financial Execution Plans, and other budget drills advocating for resource adjustments for the SATCOM Program Objective Memorandum (POM) submission and support the development, review, and recommendation of execution year funding efforts, including Unfunded Requirements (UFR), Budget Execution Review, and end-of-year funding.
  • Support Operational Acceptance, Initial Operational Capability (IOC)/Full Operational Capability (FOC) declaration, and modification management of current and/or future USSF C2 mission capabilities in accordance with established USSF procedures.
  • Monitor and provide reviews and comments via the Task Management Tool (TMT) from congressional, Services, combatant commands, field commands, and other entities.

Salary Pay Range: $100-125K.
