This position is for a technical role in Colorado Springs, CO (100% on site).

Key Responsibilities:
1. Grasp the client's vision of automated satellite operations to enhance the efficiency of ground system utilization.
2. Deliver planning and updates on technical and execution matters concerning mission planning, RPO operations, On-Orbit Test, and mission execution to the NG Program Office and Client.
3. Offer Space Operations expertise to both internal and external stakeholders to guarantee spacecraft/payload and ground system health, status, anomaly troubleshooting, and resolution within contract scope.
4. Ensure the client comprehends the current operational capabilities of the system - identifying fully capable vehicles, those with reduced capabilities, and those currently non-operational due to anomalies.
5. Act as a technical liaison between the NG Program Office and end users to facilitate successful mission execution.
6. Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring to other technical staff in applying systems engineering principles, tools, and techniques to achieve practical outcomes.
7. Collaborate with management to ensure adherence to standard NG processes and policies.
8. Drive process development, continuous improvement, and cost-effectiveness initiatives.
9. Work with end users and the Mission Planner Team to formulate RPO Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures.
10. Offer on-call support for rendezvous and proximity operations (RPO) missions and the resolution of system issues and anomalies.
This position may require occasional shift work including swing or night shifts, and/or 12-hour shifts including holidays and/or weekends.

Candidate must be self-motivated, able to work in a dynamic team environment, and work under general direction while independently determining and developing approaches to solutions.

This position can be filled as a Sr. Staff Engineer, Systems, (Level 6) depending on experience and qualifications.

Basic Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in engineering or a STEM-related field.
2. 14+ years of relevant experience.
3. An active or current TS/SCI clearance is required at time of application/start. (TS clearance with an investigation or CV date within 5 years is needed.)
4. U.S. citizen.
5. Candidate must possess strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and proficient oral and written presentation skills.
6. Demonstrated experience in satellite operations engineering disciplines including orbital mechanics, attitude control, power management, thermal control, propulsion, command and data handling, flight and ground software, and anomaly determination and resolution.
7. Experience with RPO mission planning and execution.
8. Proven ability to formally present technical solutions to senior leadership teams.
9. Capable of making decisions under high-pressure environments and maintaining composure in stressful situations.
10. Ability to troubleshoot and rectify problems in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience directly managing or leading large engineering teams.
2. Experience as a technical lead, Integrated Product Team Lead, or in another leadership role within a program office or business function with demonstrated team building, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
3. Proficiency with one or more of the following programming languages/tools: MATLAB, Python, SIMULINK, Fortran, Java, C/C++.
4. Experience with fleet management of satellite constellations.
5. Familiarity with various astrodynamics tools (FreeFlyer, System Tool Kit (STK), NASA General Mission Analysis Tool (GMAT), Orbit Determination Toolbox (ODTBX)).
6. Prior aerospace-related work experience for a U.S Government Agency or Contractor.

Salary Range:
$166,000 - $229,000


The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
