We are seeking a Satellite Systems Project Engineer to support a Department of Defense (DOD) initiative. This role involves overseeing advanced programs that tackle some of the most pressing challenges faced by our nation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in technical programs and systems engineering related to satellite ground systems, as well as a comprehensive understanding of the DoD Intelligence Community (IC) and SATCOM sectors. The position requires the ability to create and maintain technical and training documentation and will involve international travel. A proactive mindset is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and manage the development and execution of SATCOM and RF Ground Segment projects, integrating both commercial and governmental networks, components, and infrastructures.
  • Oversee hardware/software requirements analysis.
  • Implement systems engineering processes to ensure system requirements are fulfilled, documenting verification results accordingly.
  • Facilitate technical planning and provide guidance on system integration.
  • Supervise the design, implementation, and integration of systems engineering processes.
  • Contribute to the formulation of new system concepts to enhance operational capabilities.
  • Create and maintain system documentation and training materials.
  • Oversee system developers, testers, and support personnel in the initiation of system updates, ensuring thorough documentation of results and findings.
  • Collaborate with systems engineering leads and other technical personnel.
  • Lead the development and upkeep of System CONOPs, TTPs, and alternative strategies.
  • Conduct technical support and risk assessments related to program management and technical reviews.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive project master schedule, integrating technical milestones and critical events.
  • Track project technical requirements, reports, and performance metrics.
  • Manage SATCOM Ground Segment utilization efforts and related tasks.
  • Coordinate with the IC, SATCOM, and Space communities to support development efforts and operational system usage.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Possess a current Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Hold a Bachelor's Degree in engineering (EE, ME, AE, CS) or applied sciences (Mathematics, Physics).
  • Have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience, including five (5) years in space SATCOM/RF and/or satellite ground systems.
  • Experience in translating government requirements into system, subsystem, and component specifications.
  • Proficient in preparing technical documentation, conducting trades, and modifying systems engineering processes throughout all phases of project development.
  • Skilled in organizing both external and internal project stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
  • Able to communicate complex engineering concepts and designs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working with diverse engineering teams across multiple specialties.
  • Proficient in developing and managing project management tools such as Program Roadmaps, Integrated Master Schedules, Roles & Responsibilities Matrices, and Work Breakdown Structures.
  • Experience supporting DoD IC, SATCOM, and Space communities in mission execution.
  • Familiarity with signal analysis and communication technologies.
  • Knowledge of SATCOM architecture and data flows.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree in engineering (EE, ME, AE, CS) or applied sciences (Mathematics, Physics).
  • Ten years of experience in RF/SATCOM and/or ground systems.
  • Understanding of military and commercial space and satellite constellations.
  • Experience with Agile Operations and the integration of SATCOM/RF networks and infrastructures.
  • Familiarity with contemporary commercial satellite constellations and SATCOM technologies.
  • Experience with the certification of SATCOM/RF networks, infrastructures, and components.
  • Proficient in Cisco scripting.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, C, or C++.

Competitive salary based on experience and education
Salary Range: $120,000-$150,000
