JOB SUMMARY:
The Superintendent I is accountable for overseeing profitable field operations on projects of varying sizes, including intricate assignments with minimal supervision. This role is pivotal in establishing a robust safety culture on-site and collaborating closely with the Project Management team to effectively manage the schedule, budget, and personnel to ensure profitable results.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure project safety aligns with Caliente Construction's Safety Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Utilize teams and organizational frameworks to meet business objectives; engage all team members in active participation by crafting an effective structure, articulating a shared vision for each project, and setting clear expectations.
  • Oversee job costing, quality assurance, quantity reporting, forecasting, and productivity. Document all delays, back charges, or relevant information.
  • Develop and maintain the overall project timeline; prepare six-week look-ahead schedules and review them with subcontractors and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Proactively initiate changes to keep the project on track and notify the assigned Project Manager of any conditions that may impact scheduled material delivery dates.
  • Formulate plans for self-performed work and manage associated resources, materials, and equipment.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation, including daily logs, diaries, communication records, and timecards, are completed accurately and filed promptly in accordance with Company-approved standards.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts, organize meetings, and collaborate with team members across various roles as needed.
  • Guarantee field administration completes daily time reports, quantity reports, purchases, and job logs.
  • Foster and enhance professional relationships with all project stakeholders while maximizing revenue and profitability goals.
  • Guide junior team members in all aspects of assigned projects and construction best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
To excel in this role, an individual must effectively perform each essential duty and possess comprehensive knowledge of construction. The following requirements represent the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an industry-related college degree is preferred, along with at least four (4) years of relevant superintendent experience or comparable construction experience.
  • Proficiency in software applications (MS Office/Bluebeam/Procore/Vista/Powerproject, etc.).
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret construction documents with intermediate knowledge of construction methods and materials.
  • Familiarity with Building Codes.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, efficiency, and reliability.
  • A collaborative team player who understands the impact of individual actions on the team.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to changes in planned tasks or schedules.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to maintain a positive leadership stance.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Availability to work 40 hours per week or more, as necessary to meet project timelines.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • May require repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
  • May involve prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing throughout the workday.
  • Willingness to travel to various job sites and/or recruitment locations.
  • A valid driver’s license and proof of insurability are required when job duties necessitate the use of a motor vehicle.
  • Must exercise discretion in decision-making and maintain strict confidentiality regarding applicant, employee, and Company proprietary information.
