POSITION SUMMARY:
The Superintendent I is tasked with overseeing profitable field operations on a variety of projects, from small to large scale, including intricate assignments with minimal supervision. This role is pivotal in establishing a robust safety culture on-site and collaborating closely with the Project Management team to effectively manage the schedule, budget, and personnel to ensure successful project outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and uphold project safety in alignment with Caliente Construction's Safety Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Utilize teams and organizational systems effectively to meet business objectives; engage all team members in active participation by creating a solid framework, articulating a shared vision for each project, and setting clear expectations.
  • Monitor job costing, quality of work, quantity reporting, forecasting, and productivity. Document all delays, back charges, or other relevant information.
  • Develop and maintain the overall project schedule; prepare six-week look-ahead schedules and review them with subcontractors and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Initiate changes to maintain project timelines and inform the assigned Project Manager of any conditions that may impact scheduled delivery dates for materials.
  • Formulate plans for self-performed work and manage self-performed resources, materials, and equipment.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation, including daily logs, diaries, communication records, and timecards, are complete, accurate, and filed promptly using the proper Company-approved standards.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts, organize meetings, and collaborate with team members in various roles as needed.
  • Ensure field administration completes daily time reports, quantity reports, purchases, and job logs.
  • Maintain and enhance professional relationships with all project stakeholders while maximizing revenue and profitability goals.
  • Mentor junior team members in all aspects of assigned projects and construction best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An industry-related college degree is preferred, along with at least four (4) years of job-specific superintendent experience or comparable construction experience.
  • Proficient in software applications (MS Office/Bluebeam/Procore/Vista/Powerproject, etc.).
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret construction documents with intermediate knowledge of construction methods and materials.
  • Knowledge of Building Codes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, efficient, and reliable.
  • A team player who recognizes how individual actions impact the team as a whole.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, flexible and adaptable to changes in planned tasks or schedules.
  • Professional demeanor with the capacity to maintain a positive leadership stance.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work 40 hours per week or more, as required to meet project schedules.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • May require repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
  • May require prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing throughout the workday.
  • Willingness to travel to various job sites and/or employee recruitment and work locations.
  • A valid driver’s license and proof of insurability are required when job duties necessitate the use of a motor vehicle.
  • Requires exercising discretion in decision-making and maintaining strict confidentiality regarding applicant, employee, and Company proprietary information.
