Position Overview:

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) plays a crucial role in acquiring, assessing, coordinating, and disseminating the necessary information and approvals to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within financial constraints, and to the specified quality standards. The APM is tasked with safeguarding and advancing the interests of both the organization and the client in all aspects, while also embodying the traits of an emerging leader.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Uphold HITT's safety standards consistently.
  • Ensure proper documentation is maintained and filed.
  • Assist in the formulation and oversight of project budgets for all assigned tasks.
  • Develop pre-construction Request for Proposal (RFP) packages.
  • Support the organization of project meetings, establish milestones, and prepare monthly reports for owners.
  • Define job processes (RFIs, submittals, and payment applications), including the approval of payment requests and negotiation of subcontractor change orders.
  • Update and manage project schedules; ensure quality control and establish comprehensive project logistics.
  • Aid in the management of the project closeout process.
  • Collaborate with the project superintendent and site operations team throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma is required; a four-year degree in construction, engineering, or business from an accredited institution is strongly preferred.
  • Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 2-5 years of experience in commercial construction, particularly with a commercial general contractor.
  • Previous exposure to commercial job sites is highly desirable.
  • A strong passion for the construction industry and a keen eye for quality.
  • Proficiency in sector-specific software systems, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), ProCore, Adobe, and BlueBeam.
  • Must demonstrate a strong ability to:
    • Communicate effectively and professionally, with a focus on appropriate business writing and verbal skills.
    • Exhibit a positive attitude and enthusiasm for the construction field.
    • Analyze data, translate it into actionable insights, and communicate findings clearly.
    • Organize and prioritize tasks efficiently.
    • Uphold integrity consistent with HITT's core values.

Compensation: In accordance with the Washington Equal Pay and Opportunity Act, the base salary range for this position is $77,000 to $110,000. Compensation may vary in other locations. HITT Contracting offers a competitive benefits package, including performance-based bonuses, comprehensive health care coverage (including vision and dental), employer-matched 401(k), wellness reimbursement programs, paid holidays, and various voluntary benefits.
