Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Commercial Construction Development Assistant to join our team at HITT Contracting, Inc. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for supporting the coordination of subcontractors and suppliers, tracking materials, and managing files and progress updates for client review.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support project management team with subcontractor and supplier coordination, material tracking, and file management
  • Assist project management team with progress updates and reporting for client review
  • Aid in document control processes, such as drafting submittals, RFIs, and change orders
  • Assist in preparation of bid packages, helping to solicit and evaluate subcontractor bids
  • Conduct preconstruction procedures, including reviewing proposals, specifications, and drawings, executing material takeoffs, preparing cost estimates, and attending internal team meetings and client walkthroughs
  • Collaborate with onsite superintendents and field-based teams to assist with project layout, construction drawing, trade coordination, verification of site conditions, safety, and quality control inspections
  • Participate in social and networking events, weekly training and educational classes, and HITT corporate responsibility activities
Key Qualifications
  • Current student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited university within the construction, engineering, or business concentrations
  • Previous industry internship, volunteer work, or work experience is a plus
  • Passion for construction and general contracting industry
  • Ability to work approximately 40 hours per week for the duration of the 10-week program
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple, competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Demonstrated ability to learn project-specific software systems, including Microsoft Office 365 (ex. Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.), Procore, Adobe, and BlueBeam
  • Exceptional customer and client focus with ability to succeed in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
