Position Overview:

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) plays a crucial role in acquiring, assessing, coordinating, and disseminating the necessary information and approvals to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within financial constraints, and to the specified quality standards. The APM is tasked with safeguarding and advancing the interests of both the organization and the client in all aspects while embodying the qualities of an emerging leader. The duration of the APM role typically spans two to six years, with various pathways for growth and advancement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Uphold HITT's safety standards rigorously.
  • Ensure proper documentation is maintained and organized.
  • Assist in formulating and overseeing project budgets for all assigned initiatives.
  • Develop comprehensive pre-construction RFP packages.
  • Participate in project meetings, establish milestones, and prepare monthly reports for owners.
  • Define job processes (RFIs, submittals, and payment applications), including the approval of payment requests and negotiation of subcontractor change orders.
  • Update and manage project schedules; ensure quality control and overall project logistics.
  • Support the management of the project closeout process.
  • Collaborate closely with the project superintendent and site operations team throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma is required; a four-year degree in construction, engineering, or business from an accredited institution is strongly preferred.
  • Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 2-5 years of experience in commercial construction, particularly with a commercial general contractor.
  • Previous experience on commercial job sites is highly desirable.
  • A strong passion for the construction industry and a keen eye for quality.
  • Proficiency in sector-specific software systems, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), ProCore, Adobe, and BlueBeam.
  • Must demonstrate strong capabilities in:
    • Clear, concise, and professional communication, with a focus on audience-appropriate business writing and verbal skills.
    • Maintaining a positive attitude and enthusiasm for the construction field.
    • Analyzing data, interpreting it into actionable insights, and communicating effectively.
    • Organizing and prioritizing tasks efficiently.
    • Upholding integrity consistent with HITT's core values.
    • Pursuing continuous self-improvement and knowledge enhancement.
    • Adapting to the evolving landscape of technology, design, and methodologies.

Compensation: In accordance with the Washington Equal Pay and Opportunity Act, the base salary range for this position is $77,000.00 to $110,000.00. Compensation may vary in other locations. HITT Contracting offers a competitive benefits package, including performance-based bonuses, comprehensive health care coverage (including vision and dental), employer-matched 401(k), wellness reimbursement programs, paid holidays, and other voluntary benefits.
