Position Overview
We are currently in search of a Housing Specialist to become a vital part of our team. This role will be based in our Brooklyn facility and will report directly to the Director of Discharge Planning, Housing & Recruitment.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two to three years of experience in community-based residential management or a related field.
  • Experience in negotiating lease agreements with landlords or property management firms.
  • Knowledge of relevant state and city housing regulations and disability laws.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • A valid driver's license.

Key Responsibilities
The Housing Specialist will:

  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with landlords and property management companies.
  • Ensure compliance with housing laws, building codes, and lease agreements.
  • Collaborate with Case Management to identify suitable housing candidates.
  • Address and resolve conflicts with landlords to meet client needs.
  • Monitor and enhance housing management relationships.
  • Maintain a database of available housing options.
  • Identify new housing opportunities through networking.
  • Prepare and coordinate reports related to housing compliance.
  • Keep Case Management informed about apartment readiness and client issues.
  • Manage a caseload of clients receiving external income and assist in preparing housing applications.
